Scarlet is a playful spayed 2 year old hound mix (40-45 pounds) looking for the right family. When she was surrendered, she had a rough case of flea allergy dermatitis and untreated ear infections in both ears. She was very nervous and jumpy in the loud and active shelter, but came out of her shell immediately once she got into a foster home. She's extremely affection and loves to snuggle. She likes to run and play, and really enjoys time outside, but is also happy to chill on the couch. She has done great with kennel and house training. She has also been very good around young children.
Scarlet is not a dominant dog, although she could be described as pushy with other dogs. This is probably mostly because she wants to play and has been in foster with older dogs that aren't up to her activity level. She needs a family that will understand her shy side. She'd be a good home body, but would respond well to gradual introduction to higher intensity environments. She'd make a good only dog, or perhaps do well with active dogs that will respond well to her playful side. She hasn't been tested with cats, but would probably do better in a home without them. She is a sweet and affectionate dog who hasn't had the greatest start, and she deserves an opportunity to know how good life can really be.
We at Tired Dog Rescue strive to find homes for dogs in need, build quality relationships with responsible owners, and preserve current dog-family homes by seeking solutions to financial, behavioral, and situational dog problems. We believe the lives of homeless, abandoned and abused dogs are just as precious as dogs that currently have a loving home. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home despite their age, medical condition and/or disabilities. We provide whatever medical care is needed regardless of cost. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations before being placed.
